About the Role
NVIDIA has been at the forefront of transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for over 25 years, driven by continuous innovation and exceptional talent. Today, NVIDIA is harnessing the immense power of AI to usher in the next era of computing, where GPUs serve as the intelligence for computers, robots, and self-driving vehicles capable of understanding the world. As a Senior Autonomous Driving Software Engineer, L4 Planning, you will be instrumental in this mission, revolutionizing autonomous driving by building next-generation AI-native autonomous driving systems. Our team in Shanghai, China, is pioneering the integration of classical safety architectures with advanced AI-based systems. This role is pivotal in defining the future of autonomous vehicles, focusing on developing the core architecture for prediction, decision-making, planning, and control, as well as crafting robust system-level safety strategies. You will implement end-to-end data-driven AV pipelines, large-scale model inference architectures, and seamlessly integrate classical and end-to-end hybrid systems, scaling them from research to production. Your contributions will directly impact the creation of a unified, industry-leading production platform, pushing the boundaries of what autonomous driving can achieve.
Responsibilities
- Building the main stack for autonomous driving, concentrating on prediction, decision-making, planning, and control architecture.
- Crafting robust system-level safety and fallback strategies within classical safety stacks.
- Implementing end-to-end data-driven AV pipelines and large-scale model inference architectures.
- Integrating classical and end-to-end hybrid systems, ensuring seamless scalability from research to production.
- Collaborating with a world-class team of engineers to build a unified production platform that sets new standards in the industry.
Requirements
- A BS or higher in an engineering or technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience in developing production autonomous driving systems.
- Proficiency in forecasting, scheduling, and control frameworks for autonomous vehicles.
- Experience with AI foundation models, large-scale ML systems, and end-to-end driving models.
- A strong background in robotics or embodied AI systems and system architecture from concept to scale.
- Ability to build comprehensive systems, not just individual components.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will bring deep technical expertise in autonomy architecture, ML systems, or robotics platforms and thrive on solving complex real-world problems. If you're ambitious and have a proven track record of developing flawless, world-class systems, this is the place for you!
