About the Role
NVIDIA's Autonomous Vehicles division is seeking a Senior Mapping Engineer to contribute to the development of high-definition maps essential for self-driving cars. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing algorithms for map generation, localization, and real-time map updates. This involves working with various sensor modalities (Lidar, Camera, Radar) and leveraging advanced computer vision and machine learning techniques to create and maintain highly accurate and reliable maps. Your work will directly impact the safety and performance of NVIDIA's autonomous driving platforms, enabling robust navigation in complex environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement algorithms for high-definition map creation and maintenance.
- Develop and integrate robust localization algorithms using various sensor inputs.
- Work on real-time map updates and change detection systems.
- Leverage computer vision and machine learning for feature extraction and map understanding.
- Collaborate with perception, planning, and simulation teams.
- Optimize mapping pipelines for performance and scalability.
Requirements
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Geomatics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mapping, localization, or related areas for autonomous vehicles.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Experience with sensor data processing (Lidar, Camera, Radar).
- Knowledge of computer vision, photogrammetry, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques for spatial data.
Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale mapping systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with automotive industry standards and safety concepts.
- Prior experience with NVIDIA DRIVE platform.
